Frequently Asked Questions
How long does surgery take to perform and how long is the recovery?
Cataract surgery generally takes 10-15 minutes to perform. Most patients may return to typical daily activities by the next day, although some restrictions may be necessary in certain situations. During recovery, eye drops are used to prevent infection and inflammation, typically for 2 to 3 weeks.
If I need surgery for both eyes, does this happen at the same time?
Not usually. Typically, there is about two weeks between surgeries. There will be a few appointments after the first eye surgery to ensure you are healing well prior to proceeding with surgery for the other eye.
Why can’t you guarantee freedom from eyeglasses following cataract surgery?
We are committed to helping you achieve the best vision possible and to minimize eyeglass dependency. Your personal outcome will depend upon the type of lens implant you choose and your overall eye health. While careful measurements and diagnostic tools are employed to optimize the outcome, lens implants cannot be customized to your exact specifications. Some variability in healing may also influence the visual outcome.
Is everybody a candidate for Premium Lifestyle lenses?
No, preexisting eye conditions may preclude use of certain types of implants. Our doctors will carefully assess the health of your eye to determine whether you could benefit from an enhanced optic lens implant.
